North East of the A1101 road at Hengrave, between the road and the River Lark, in field some 300m SW of Ducksluice Farm a type 27 pillbox still stands. It is rare in still retaining the steel embrasure surrounds and steel AA gun mount on a concrete pillarroad %

This shows the overgrown anti-aircraft pit on the top. This pillbox was part of the Main Eastern Command stop line running from Wivenhoe on the Essex coast to the Wash west of King's Lynn. Many thanks to Mark Brotherton for these photos.

A type 22 pillbox still stands north east of the bridge over River Lark, South East of Lark Mills and adjacent and East of Mildenhall/Worlington road.

The pillbox has large embrasures, an unprotected entrance with rifle embrasure to left. The interior has a Y-shaped blast wall. This pillbox was part of Eastern Command: Command Stop Line - Main Eastern Command stop line running from Wivenhoe on the Essex
