Mystery Slots

David Harrington has sent me an interesting photos of some mystery slots in an AA pit of a type 27 at Mersea Island in Essex. There are 6 in total and they all go through to the inner passage. The slots have been identified as various including ventilation for the inner chamber, allowing communication with the inner chamber, allowing illumination within the inner chamber.
