The ultimate prize. With the capture of London total defeat for Britain would have not been far off. For this reason a number of defence lines of anti-tank defences and pillboxes were built in concentric rings radiating from the centre.
These were:
London Stop Line Outer - Line A (outer suburbs) of London defence rings.
London Stop Line Central - Line B (middle) of London defence rings.
London Stop Line Inner - Line C (innermost) of London defence rings.
London Inner Keep - Defences of the core government areas of London.
